Programme & Line Up for 2009?
« Thread Started on Feb 24, 2009, 9:31pm »

What is the Brampton line up for 2009? With most other festivals having published their programmes some time ago, when can we expect to see the Brampton programme?
I see just one band are showing Brampton as a possible date on their schedule; Elbow Jane.
http://www.elbowjane.com/gigs.php

A good place to look is http://www.efestivals.co.uk/festivals/

which seems to keep up to date with everyone, except Brampton!

I agree with previous posters; this whole site, and the message board, need a really good makeover! It would be great if someone can take this on board!

I love Brampton live, but i strongly agree that the website seems to get little attention from the creators, and should have some info on it by now. I'm considering other festivals at the moment, which are AFTER Brampton, but have had listing for months. we'll see.....

It's very unusual the organisers not published the programme yet. Have any artists been approached to play? Any rumours on the folk /music scene?

Here's some info from the promoter...

Quote:
I do know folks are anxious to know what we are doing but taking over all of this has been a massive task and not without its problems...not least finding some money.... Suffice to say we are ready to go and whilst we are changing things on the website, the current one will hopefully have some of the artists confirmed for this year within a few days. There are still many more to confirm but at least some will be there.

There will be an earlybird ticket held at last years price for weekend tix up until the end of April plus a small charge for camping.

Keep checking the website it will start going up within days and be updated regularly.

Best Wishes

9 days later and still no news. This is painful. This is the only festival that does not update its website or announce at least a few acts and you can't even buy tickets. Hmmmmmmmmm!

Let's be honest it's the same every year we wait and wait for a line up to be announced and when it finaly arrives it's just a rehash of previous years. I love Bramptonlive, I love the place, I love the vibe, great for the kid's etc etc but come on people get a grip and sort out your line up just like every other fesival did ages ago. Many of the artists will be connected to emerging music anyway so you must know who some of them are. ??? ???

This is getting silly now. We are well into the year and people are looking to get their festivals organised.
Brampton has a lot of faithful attendees who will support the festival whatever, so I think this Forum owes it to them to keep them informed of progress especially as last year when the festival was under threat and the supporters got together to do that wonderful petition.
I have noticed by trawling the Emerging Music website that Tom Kilburn & Gren Bartley are down to appear at Brampton, so if I can find that out why isn't someone updateing the Forum with this info? C'mon! Generate a bit of excitement and get us interested.
Brampton is in danger of losing support through apathy. :(

MySpace is great for pre announcement listings of who is on at brampton this year!

So far we have on My Space and other listings
Elbow Jane http://www.elbowjane.com/gigs.php
Callum Stewart
Peatbog Faeries; although the entry on their site has a line through it!
Gacko (?)
Gren Bartley

Surely there will be more soon.

Thanks gpsmount. Great to hear something on this forum.
I think the lack of information about Brampton Live this year does not bode well for the future. I wrote letters to councillors last year when Brampton Live was in threat. I am beginning to wonder if it was all for nothing.

Have heard the web new web site will be live very soon, and a huge range of artists has been booked to appear, including, Oyster Band, Peatbog Faeries, Drever McCusker Woomble, Barbara Dixon, Andy Fairweather Lowe, Keith Donneley, Nancy Kerr & James F agan, plus the others mentioned above and more to be announced. So sit back, relax and book your tickets as soon as they are available!

I've got to say this is a disappointing line-up compared to previous years. Last year we got Richard Thompson, this year it's Barbara thingyson. :(

I don't think we'll be going for the weekend, maybe just one day depending on who's on when. Would quite like to see the Peatbog Faeries and the Oysterband but I think we'll spend the money on other festivals\gigs instead.

Haha - it doesn't like D1ckson so puts thingyson instead. What a load of sh1t! Sums up Brampton for 2009. Fukcwits.

Some of these remarks are bit unfair you know; there are other artists not yet revealed who will be headlining.
Plus, many of the revealed artists will be pretty good; Barbara Dixon could well surprise many. I think King Creosote will be appearing, if he gets the date right. should be great!
Tickets and web links should appear soon; I don't expect to see tickets for sale until the final line up is announced, then the site will most likely be updated.

I think Brampton Live looks pretty good to me!

They need to get their act together coz people have less money to spend on festivals this year coz of the recession so brampton will get left behind.

I'm not going this year coz I'm going to another festival in August and there's gigs in Kendal like Eliza Carthy and Billy Bragg that i'd rather spend my cash on.

i think tickets should have been up long before now. 99 days to go? most festivals i go to sell tickets from the day after they close the last one, ok so abit of slack can be given but most other festivals everywhere have tickets up long before brampton.

I think we are lucky to have a brampton festival at all. The way some of these remarks are written, it's presented as we all have a right to Brampton festival, and its like the organisers are at fault for organising it properly, whereas in fact the organisers have worked incredibly hard, moved heaven and earth and risked a whole shed load of money, to make sure it happens!

Also, many of the acts are sure to surprise and just because they are not the usual mainstream folk acts you might have expected or want to see, doesn't mean to say they will not be any good or entertain.

My only complaint, if that's what it is, is that some of them I have seen before! But that will not matter because I can always see the acts I've not seen.

I'm sure it'll be a good festival and my feelings about the line-up have mellowed now that more acts have been announced.

But I think it's fair comment to say that while I'm sure the organisers have been busy working hard booking bands etc they made the classic mistake of not letting festival goers know what was happening. It wouldn't have taken a lot of effort just to post updates every week or two on the web site or on here to let people know what's been going on.

It's the old communication problem. :)
